Blogging Task 23 - Institutions

As we have decided on creating a high school drama, studios such as 21st Century Fox, Warner Bros and Paramount Picture are the types of distributor that would fit our film. High school dramas are usually very popular and always have huge turn outs, this is majorly because of big Hollywood studios supporting it. These companies have produced huge mainstream high school such as Mean girls, American Pie and Clueless. With this said it would fit perfectly for our future film as we have chosen to create a mainstream high school drama.Costume Activity
Costume Activity
To convey our characters most stereotypically we will need to emphasis through their costume who they are.
The Jock:
In American High School Dramas the jock/athlete of the school tends to be wearing a very recognisable jacket through the film to symbolise his character. The importance of his clothing can seperate him from any other athletes but it especially seperates him from the less cool kids, ie. the nerds.

In producing a High School Drama, we will need to have the two locations of a home and high school present in our shots. As most High School Dramas do, they begin in the home of the characters. For example in Clueless, the film begins in the home of main character, Cher.
We will also need a "high school" for the scenes within our film, like in the breakfast club. We will be filming in the college through so will use the college building to represent our "high school" scene.

Saturday Night Fever
The story behind Saturday Night Fever shows main character, Tony Manero, portrayed by John Travolta, living two different lives, at home and outside his home environment. At home he is a poor son of a New Jersey household but by night he is a dancing superstar, who attracts all the ladies.
In a similar concept we are going to therefore portray our main character in the same idea that Saturday Night Fever portrayed Tony Manero. At home he is a struggling young boy, going through tough times with his family, especially his mum but by day he attends school and is Mr Popular, the douchebag of the school.
Title Sequence Fonts
Title Sequence Fonts
Looking into the title sequence of other High School Dramas (10 Things I Hate About You and Clueless) their font styles and type faces reflect the genre of the movie, being childlike themed, and their font styles seem to possess quite a handwritten feel. Looking on dafont.com I found these two fonts that I think will work well for both our overall genre of the film and sub-genre.
Miss Molly Brown:
Font stlye; "Miss Molly Brown" also gives us the opportunity to use emojis and extra keyboard goodies in its unique style.
Frenchy:
Font style; "Frenchy" does not however give us the opportunity to use emojis etc which is a downfall to its use.

Institution Company
I think based on the idea that our film will be a High School Drama, it would be a big budget production and a institution like Paramount Pictures would be ideal in helping us achieve maximum profits through their mainstream angle. Also Paramount Pictures would probably like to produce our film because of its High School theme as they have produced legenedary High School Dramas; Clueless and Mean Girls.
Another institution that would be ideal to produce our film is New Line Cinema, who are a unit of Warner Bros Studios, who have produced hugely successful mainstream movies; Sex and The City, Hairspray and 17 Again. Their wide audience base would also be helpful in widening the target audience of our production.
